Allow me to introduce local legend, Mike Krennpaw.

The fearless leader of Connect, one of the nation’s first accelerators. You might know about Connect from Innovation Day, the real reason to get excited about going to Petco Park. But also from programs like Cool Companies and XEO.

He’s been a champion of San Diego innovation and a driving force in bringing more investment dollars to our region. “Laidback" and “chill” are not two words he uses to describe our startup ecosystem.

This isn’t his first prowl either. Ever heard of EvoNexus? What about NuFund (formerly Tech Coast Angels)? It seems like he’s been in the orbit of many of our important ecosystem players.

Lately, he’s been working on a new concept that's a hybrid of nonprofit and investment fund: the TL Foundation. A philanthropic investment fund focused on investing in San Diego companies and encouraging the exits to flow back into the SD innovation economy. What a clever way to keep investments flowing back to our community. Howl yeah. We're looking forward to seeing who they invest in.

Oh, and if you know Mike outside of the startup community, rumor has it he grills up a mean rack of ribs. You might have seen this mouth watering detail in his older LinkedIn profile photo, before the professional photo update. (The wayback machine would not help me surface this image.. yet).
