Did you know he was a music producer before taking over the investment scene in San Diego?

Ashokoyote is the fearless pack leader of NuFund Venture Group, one of the largest Angel Networks in the country. Previously part of the Tech Coast Angels network, they grew so rapidly, in part due to his leadership, that they spun off into their own entity.

They invest as early as seed/seed 2 but might have shifted to later rounds in recent years.

Here are a few cool stats:

- Deploying $10M per year from 2020-2023
- $300k–1m check size
- Focusing on tech and biotech

This is really a story about building community and in this case a community of angel investors. This pack is quite vibrant.

How do I know this?

He often lets younger aspiring investors sit in on pitches and support due diligence to learn. He even let an older coyote join the fun and learn from all the smart questions industry experts ask founders.

I have so many great questions in my back pocket from my time spent in their community.

Ashokoyote has been a huge part of what NuFund is today. I don’t know much about their origins—the group is 20+ years old—but from what I hear, in recent years their process has transformed to be very founder-friendly, and even if they don’t align for investment, they offer tremendous value to founders.

Because it’s a network, the group might not always align on an investment, but individuals can still support founders on their own.

I’m very curious how much of the culture was drawn from his time as music producer. We’ll have to give him a howl to find out.
