Howlena Hanson aka Felena Hanson
Have you met San Diego Super Connector Howlena (Felena) Hanson?
She's the founder of Hera Hub, a coworking brand designed for female founders. They have seven locations, half in SD and then Chicago, Temecula, and Washington DC.
It’s a combo of a few important things:
- Spa inspired workplace for women
- Business and education
- Collaboration with like-minded entrepreneurs
- Private meeting and event space
I took a moment to read a few reviews and fell deep down the coyote den. There are so many wonderful messages, and the feedback is tremendous. She’s clearly built a very vibrant pack.
The story is really interesting actually; Howlena ran a marketing agency from her home for eight years, pioneering remote work before it was all the rage. But naturally, working solo leads to a desire for community. Hera Hub was born and launched in 2011.
There were other options for workspaces, but nothing that felt like it addressed female founders, her style, and the energy a space could provide founders like her.
They set a goal of supporting 20,000 female entrepreneurs. And so far, they’ve achieved some serious success, helping over 13,000. Insane!
Here are a few other things you might not know:
- She was on the board of Startup SD (that’s how we met)
- Wrote a book called Flight Club about launching and building startups
- Founder and Instructor at Launch Academy
- Instructor at the Fashion Institute teaching Marketing and Entrepreneurship
among many other things
There’s clearly a theme here, Howlena helps entrepreneurs. I highly recommend having her on your radar if you're a builder in San Diego.
Thank you for all you’ve done for our community, Felena, you’ve made this city a far better place to build.
Howl yeah!
